Our Story
It Started With a Book, a Few Collars, and a Love for Hounds.
The story of Red Fern Hound Supply really goes back long before we opened our doors.
When I was in the fourth grade, I read Where the Red Fern Grows. That book sparked an interest in coon hunting and hunting dogs that stayed with me long after I turned the last page. There was just something about the hounds, the woods, and the bond between a hunter and his dogs that stuck with me.
Years later, that childhood interest would become part of our family’s story.
In 2012, as my daughters were starting school, we started Red Fern Hound Supply right here in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. It wasn’t some big operation. We started small—with just a few collars and leads for local hunters and their hounds.
But from the beginning, we wanted Red Fern to be about more than selling hunting supplies. We wanted to build the kind of place where you could ask a question and get an honest answer. Where somebody would take the time to help you find what you actually needed. And where a handshake, a person’s word, and taking care of your customers still meant something.
Over the years, Red Fern has grown from those few collars and leads into a business serving houndsmen and hunters far beyond our hometown. But the reason we’re here hasn’t changed.
We still love the hounds. We still love the hunting tradition. And we still believe customers deserve to be treated like neighbors instead of order numbers.
That’s the kind of business we set out to build in 2012.
And it’s the kind of business we intend to keep.
